alright people. for those of you who aren't on the forums *and if you're reading this, you really~ should be on them XP* we've decided on a date for the Cedar Point trip.

the weekend we're going is the last one in June- the 23rd, 24th, and 25th. if there are any objections to this, please let us know.

also, if you are~ planning on coming, please comment to either this post or the thread in the forums, so we can make hotel reservations. the cost of the hotel will depend on how many people come *the hotel is $80 a night, based on quad accomidations*

one more thing. if you live in the Columbus area and need a ride, I'm more than willing to give you a lift *I c'n only fit 2 other people though ^_^;;*

see you at the Point ^o^

Cosplay at the Zoo

I was thinking today and I came up with an idea that I want to try and put into action.

For awhile now I've wanted to do something really big to help out
Image hosting by Photobucket
but I really couldn't think of what to do.
Then I came up with an idea.

I was talking to cloud_sama last night and she mentioned a Cosplay Picnic that they did. That got me thinking.
How cool would it be to cosplay at the zoo?
Then, that turned into 'how cool would it be if we cosplayed at the zoo and help out the charity at the same time?'

There is still a lot of stuff that has to go into putting this project together.
I need to get in touch with the Detroit Zoo and see if they'd be up to handling a mass of cosplayers and what they could possibly do to help us.
But first and foremost, I just wanted opinions.

How was I thinking of raising money?
Well, like I said, I need to talk to the Zoo first and see what they'd be willing to do as far as admissions go.
But I was thinking, cosplay auction, if any artists would be willing to donate pieces, etc etc. There is a LARGE mass of things that could go into this.

My question is though:
How many people would be interested in it?
I know Detroit is probably pretty damn far from a lot of you, but I still wanted to see. Depending on the response I get, I'll then take this to the Zoo.

^_^ Just wanted to see what people thought. I really want to give this a shot though. (Sorry for the bit of spam!)

Alright gang. We need to start thinking of when the best dates are for our Cedar Point Meet Up Trip ^^. We also have to discuss if we are going to be staying in a hotel, camp, or stay at someone's house during the weekend. I had opened my house up to everyone for the weekend, but the problem is that it's also an hour and a half + minutes by the Turnpike. So I don't think everyone wants to randivu at my place considering it is an extra drive for several members.

Here are the weekends/dates in June, July and August. Please pick two that works well for you:

June:

2nd - 4th (Colossal Con)
9th - 11th
16th - 18th
24rd - 24th

July

30th - 2nd
7th - 9th
14th - 16th (Ikasu Con)
21st - 23rd
28th - 30th

August

4th - 5th (Otakon)
11th - 13th
18th - 20th
25th - 27th

I haven't been to Cedar Point in nearly two years. I know it's a bit of a drive for some people, but would anyone like to have a MOCA Meetup at Cedar Point this summer? I am willing to open my house open for people who have to drive a long distance or to spend the weekend. I just need to know in advance of who will be staying over. I live about an hour and fourty five minutes away from Cedar Point. But it's really easy to get to the turnpike from my house. Also, that's of course if anyone's interested. Let me know what you guys think!

(Also, I will need a ride if no one is planning on staying over my house. I am willing to pay for part of the gas~! )

Alright, some people on other forums and in general have question what does "Mideastern" mean? Some people are confusing it with the Middle East, but isn't there a such thing called the Mideastern United States? Or do you think we should switch it to Midwestern? I need your members opinions before I go about changing the title around.

Alright, I've started MOCA (Mideastern Otaku Cosplay Association) a while ago, but I finally sat down and worked on it some during my break at school. We have a website, livejournal and forum now. Along with basic rules. Anyone is welcomed to join, but the two rules that apply to joining:

1. You must live or attend a convention in the Mideastern part of the United States.
2. You must at least participate with a group cosplay or themed cosplay at least at one convention the group attends to that year.

Anyways, here are the links:

Livejournal - http://community.livejournal.com/m_o_c_a/
Forums - http://s9.invisionfree.com/MOCA
Website - http://www.freewebs.com/mideastern_otaku_cosplay_association/index.htm

Conventions planned for MOCA this year:

Haru Con
ACen
Colossal
Ikasu
Otakon
Tsubasa
Youma

Conventions are planned, but may be schedual to change. Please feel free to ask questions.
